Congratulations again on making the commitment to leverage your time and expertise, with a video-based online course!

We typically work with clients over a 6 month time period, to take them through the entire process- from big picture brand awareness to video strategy, to planning out a video shoot, to filming, editing and deciding on ways to publish and promote your online course, after it’s complete. We typically schedule a filming date anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months in advance – that’s the average amount of time it takes us and our clients to fully prepare for our upcoming day of filming. If you choose to move forward with a filming date more quickly, that’s not a problem. You’ll just need to commit to completing all the prep work (including writing all your course content) at a more accelerated pace. We will work collaboratively with you to make it happen quicker if that’s what you request.

Just so you know exactly what to expect, below you’ll find a Countdown Checklist (along with some helpful links) that highlights all of the different elements of your project that we will be working through together in the coming weeks and months.

There is a lot of useful information included below, and we will, of course, be here to guide you every step of the way, and to answer any questions you have as they come up.

For a “big picture” understanding of the main categories we’ll need to discuss together, click here for a more general overview of the entire Online Course Videos process.

The good news is you don’t need to worry about all of this information at one time. We are going to take it step-by-step, and guide you on the most important things to focus on all along the way, so that we can try to eliminate as much of the “overwhelm” for you as possible. We are your partners and guides along this journey. So please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions or reach out for support if you need help.

In the descriptions below, you will see text that is highlighted in blue. Click on those links to be taken to a separate page to learn more about that specific topic.

Month 4 (Final Pre-Production, 1 week before your video shoot):

  • Finalize all scripts (based on the feedback you receive from us and/or from your team members who review them)

  • Send the final versions of your scripts to Jaime@GeffnerProductions.com, by 48 hours prior to the start time of your shoot

(IMPORTANT NOTE: Please keep in mind that we need time to format your content in the teleprompter – this is a time-consuming process for us, especially when you have a lot of content, like when you’re filming an entire online course! If you send your final scripts in late, then it impacts our schedule as well, as that means we’ll need to be up late the night before your shoot working on your scripts, and therefore we won’t be well-rested for your day of filming. The more tired we are, the less we’re able to think clearly and direct you brilliantly on the day of filming, so it’s important that you get a good night’s sleep, and it’s also important that we do as well. That is why we have the rule to get your final scripts to us by 48 hours in advance of your shoot!)

  • Practice going over your scripts so you’re very familiar with them and so you feel confident about your delivery (you may want to do this by looking at yourself in the mirror as you deliver the content, or by recording yourself and watching the footage back to see how you look)

  • Final shopping for clothes, and put all outfits together

  • Pick up dry cleaning and/or clothes from tailor

  • Pick up any props you need for the shoot

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Get plenty of rest!

  • Continue utilizing Lisa Thomas’ Healing Meditation on Getting Over Your Fears Of Being On-Camera, if you are at all nervous about your upcoming video shoot (you can use it over and over again, but make sure you put a gap of 48 hours between sessions, to allow your body time to heal and recover)

Month 4 (Final Pre-Production, 1 day before your video shoot):

  • Review your finalized scripts one last time, to familiarize yourself with them, and eliminate any nervousness you may have about knowing your content

  • Get nails done

  • Get hair blown out professionally, if necessary

  • Prep and pack clothes

  • Prep and pack food for day of filming

  • Review the Online Course Membership Platform Overview page to get a better understanding of how the platform-building process works
