Now, this might be a little bit of a controversial topic, and we might be a little bit biased here, but we want to officially go on record and say that there has NEVER been a better time than right now to be an entrepreneur.
Now, notice how we didn’t say there’s never been an easier time to be an entrepreneur, because unfortunately, we do not personally have the experience that being an entrepreneur is easy. However, right now is a great time for a lot of reasons to be an entrepreneur – well, if you have the stomach for it, that is.
That’s what we’re going to be talking about in today’s Video PSA…
You can always generate income for yourself and your business
So, why is now the best time to be an entrepreneur? Well, for one thing, when you are an entrepreneur, you have the ability at any time to generate income for yourself and for your business. And that’s something that you’ll have with you forever, as long as you remain an entrepreneur.
Now, don’t get us wrong, the ability to generate income for yourself is definitely a learned skill. And it’s not necessarily easy for all of us to learn this.
However, here is the good news: Once you know how to do this, once you learn how to do this, you can’t just unlearn it, right?
It’s just like riding a bike
It’s kind of like riding a bike. Once you learn how to ride a bike, once you develop your sense of balance, you don’t forget that skill. It could be 20 years since you’ve last ridden a bike, and once you get on a bike, you’re going to know how to do that.
It’s the same thing with learning how to generate income for yourself. And while you have the ability to generate income, sometimes it will be challenging. It will be difficult. But the other thing that comes with being an entrepreneur is the confidence to know that at any time, even when things do get tough – and they will – that you have the skill, you have the ability, to create new ideas, create new offers, hire the right people, to weather the storm and to get through any challenging time that you will face. And you will face them.
Why you need to keep a positive mindset
And so this brings up a point that people often overlook, and that’s your mindset. This is dependent upon your ability to keep a positive mindset, to keep your mind open at all times to possibilities, to what’s next, to not just looking at the reality of what’s going on, and then feeling like you’re stuck or you’re blocked. You have to, as an entrepreneur, be able to see past the current reality that you’re living in.
Caution. Do not enter!
It’s like if you were driving up to a tunnel, and there was a sign up that said, “Stop” or “Caution. Do not enter.” You need to be able to, as an entrepreneur, in your mind, take those signs down, push them aside, and see what’s beyond that tunnel. See that there are new roads, new opportunities, new possibilities.
So if you can develop a positive mindset, then you can always see possibilities, you can always create new things, you can always tweak things that you currently have, you can always come up with a new way to reposition or repackage or re-message something that you currently have. And that is how you’re able to constantly generate income for your business. No matter what’s going on.
You’re (not) fired!
One final thing that is incredible about being an entrepreneur is you can never get fired, right? Sometimes if you’re working for someone else, through no fault of your own, sometimes you’re going to get laid off. And even if you go off and find a new job, it might happen again.
But when you’re an entrepreneur, even though sometimes you might want to fire yourself, or maybe sometimes you should fire yourself, your job is safe, as long as you can continue to keep the business going, generate income, and continue to serve people in the world.
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart
Now, one more word of caution for you though: being an entrepreneur is definitely not for the faint of heart. You have to have the stomach for it. But if you do, there is no better position to be in in this world – through good times and through bad times – then to work for yourself, and have unlimited possibilities about what to do with your time and your life.
