Have you ever had this thought, “Why would someone want to buy that from me? I mean there’s so many other people out there who offer the same thing that I do, so how can I compete with them?”

Or have ever thought to yourself, “I can’t sell my stuff because it’s not a complete solution to a problem?” Well, stay tuned because we’re gonna address those fears in today’s Video PSA.

Why would somebody want to buy from me?

So if you’ve ever had the thought, “Why would somebody want to buy from me?” First of all, we want to say you are definitely not alone. We have had that thought many times throughout our entrepreneurial journey, and so we have a little bit of insight here to help.

There’s a market for everything

First, it’s not uncommon for you to have insecurities creep up, especially when you’re creating something new. Your brain has a way of trying to keep you safe, by making sure you don’t enter into any unnecessary risk than you absolutely have to.

But there is a way where people can learn anything from you, if you’re an expert, if you have a fresh or unique perspective to share, because there is a market for everything. And actually, the more specific you can be, the better your chances are of people actually hearing what it is that you have to offer, and being interested.

Being passionate is the key

We believe that if you’re passionate about what you do, then you can sell pretty much anything. And the reverse is also true – that if you’re not passionate about what you do, you’re going to blend in with all the hundreds or thousands of other people who sell something similar to what you sell.

For example…

So here’s a perfect example for you: the other night we were watching Shark Tank while we were getting ready for bed, because I guess that’s what we do as entrepreneurs, we watch Shark Tank, and show like that. And there were two women on there who have a company selling skincare and hair care products for your pubic hair. Awkward! Okay, stick with us here.

They could have come into the Shark Tank and been one of a hundred or a thousand other companies selling skincare or hair care products that take good care of you, and are all-natural, and all that, but they were very specific in what they did, and it created a bit of levity in the room because it’s a little awkward. And, how did it turn out?

Well, they were so incredibly passionate about this. They had a mission and a vision to help men and women feel beautiful. Take good care of themselves, whatever way you choose to style it – shaved or bushy. Preventing ingrown hairs all those little details that go along with it. And they were so incredibly passionate about it. They had infused that passion into their marketing messages. And it was amazing how they were able to get people to care about that, to care about taking care of your pubic hair, just because they were so incredibly passionate about it, and had this wonderful mission and vision behind it.

And not only do they have a lot of sales, but they also got a deal on Shark Tank with Lori, so pretty cool.

Never worry about your competition again!

So our advice is to figure out what it is that you are most passionate about, that you are the absolute best at, and then sell that. Stay in your zone of genius, even if it’s only a partial solution to the problem, stand in that, own that, and then let other people do what it is they do the best.

And if you can do that, you won’t really have any competition at all because what you offer is not just your product or service, It’s your life experience. It’s your unique perspective, your unique spin on what it is that you do. If you can be really passionate about something, you can get other people excited and passionate about it too, which is what makes them want to buy it.

Let us know what you think. What is your passion? What is your zone of genius? What is it that you do better than anybody else? Leave a comment below about that.
