Are you an entrepreneur who is hearing everywhere about the importance of using online video to grow your business, but you’re wondering, what should I do about the fact that I’m afraid to be on camera?
In today’s episode of “Let’s Talk Video!” we’re going to share with you why it’s critical for you to get comfortable with becoming the face and voice of your brand. Our intention is that by the end of this episode we will have you feeling excited about stepping into the spotlight.
You Are Not Alone!
First things first – it’s very common for entrepreneurs to be afraid to be on camera. We want you to know that you’re definitely not alone.
Many entrepreneurs spend a lot of time perfecting their craft, building their skill set, and developing their talent. But they miss the mark entirely when it comes to learning how to market and sell what they do, so they can get their ideas into the world in a way that’s going to make a difference for other people.
We know that getting in front of the camera to promote your business might not be your idea of a good time. But the truth is that no one else in the world knows your business the way that you do. You are the only one who can speak about your business as passionately as a leader, creator or owner can. And if you’re just starting out as a solopreneur, you may be the only one qualified enough to inspire your potential clients into action.
Just Do It!
Also, who says entrepreneurship was supposed to be easy? If you really want to make a difference in the world, or make a huge impact, then you simply MUST be willing to be vulnerable, and put yourself out there in a bigger way. You have to be willing to drop the excuse that you’re not doing video because you’re afraid to be on camera, and like Nike says, “Just Do It!”
And realistically, if it’s not YOU, then it will probably end up being someone else who has a similar idea, along with the willingness to get it out there in front of YOUR target audience.
We love this quote by spiritual teacher Marianne Williamson who says, “We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.”

Don’t Play Small!
Some might even say that if you feel you have a calling, or an important message to share, or that you’re here to change the world with your ideas, your products and your services, then perhaps you also have a responsibility to share that message.
Your job is to figure out how to get it out there so that it can help and serve others. Shying away from the spotlight because you’re afraid to be on camera is doing a disservice to the world.
